If you wait a few
moments you will normally see below a live webcam picture of Bolton taken from the top floor of
Bolton University. Bolton Town Hall is in the middle and we are situated way
out on the horizon (you'd need binoculars). However the webcam's recently been
rotated 180 degrees as it's location is currently being refurbished so someone
at the college has assumed that everyone would prefer to look at that instead.
To see a new updated image click
the refresh button on the toolbar of your browser every now and again. If the camera is
working (and it isn't always) then you'll be able to check if the image has updated by
looking to see if the traffic has moved. Although you might find it a bit tricky if it's
foggy. If it doesn't look any different then the camera may be temporarily out of action
and it's probably a picture that was taken earlier. Below is a saved view that may be
clearer than any saved image that appears above. Remember it's the top image that's the
live one, and like everything else, these pictures will look a lot better if your
display is set above 256 colours and with a minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600.
This site is so popular with visitors from all over the world that it has even made it into the local newspaper recently because of the huge number of 'hits' it's received since it was set up five years ago.
